AirTran adds more D.C. flights for inauguration
For The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Wednesday, November 19, 2008
Got inaugural fever? Cure it with a trip to the nation’s capital next year!
AirTran has responded to the high demand for seats to D.C. and Baltimore and have added more round-trip flights from and to Atlanta around the dates of Barack Obama’s inauguration morning of January 20. Should it be necessary, the carrier will consider adding more flights if planes fill quickly before January.

But the best news from AirTran is its current systemwide sale that brings us the lowest one-way prices of the year for trips taken through February 11!
Why not plan a 2009 weekend - or longer - getaway and then present it as a special holiday gift to a love one or your best friend?
The prices shown here are valid on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday. But if you need to travel on other days of the week (except Sunday), add $20.
Here are the best one-way rates of the sale - see AirTran.com for all prices:
- $39 Charleston, S.C.; Gulfport-Biloxi, Miss.
- $49 Jacksonville or Pensacola, Fla.; Memphis, Tenn.; Newport News-Williamsburg or Richmond, Va.
- $54 New Orleans
- $59 Detroit, Mich.; Houston, Texas; Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Pittsburgh, Penn.; St. Louis, Mo.
- $64 Baltimore, My.; Chicago; Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers or Miami, Fla.; and Washington D.C.

Naturally there are some blackout dates to avoid - and there will be slim availability of sale seats around the peak holidays. The resticted dates include Dec. 20, 23, 24, 26-28 and Jan. 3, 4.
Give at least a two-week advance notice of travel.
You’ll find that all competing airlines are matching these prices and rules. Some may require a round-trip purchase.
