Do something different this holiday season. Instead of giving goofy gifts, take a getaway. The trip will be memorable far longer than that tie or sweater. Plan to skirt around the three days before and after each of the major holidays for big savings!
There’s one fine destination that offers just the right amount of everything at this time of year - few tourists, near perfect temperatures, top golf courses, fine cuisine, some of the most majestic scenery in the nation - and some of the finest resort hotels. The place? Arizona.

Now here’s the best part. The legendary Camelback Inn of Scottsdale, Arizona - a AAA five-diamond award recipient for 31 consecutive years - has recently completed a $45 million renovation that touched every part of the 71 year-old resort - from the hacienda-style grand lobby with floor-to-ceiling doors that open onto a courtyard and postcard views of the Camelback Mountain beyond - to new bedding, carpets and more in the casita-style guestrooms - to the new Arizona Discovery Room that gives guests a peek back in history with a photo gallery of past noted guests such as John F. Kennedy, Bing Crosby, Clark Gable and Bette Davis.
The resort sits on 125 acres of Sonoran Desert terrain in Paradise Valley with a peaceful desert setting for hiking, meditation - or to discover the unique plant life. On-site are six tennis courts, three swimming pools, seven restaurants and lounges and 36 holes of championship golf.
A great ‘Grand Re-Opening’ package, priced at $579 per couple, per night, includes deluxe casita accommodations, a welcome amenity, dinner for two at Rita’s Kitchen (appetizer to share, soup or salad, entree and dessert up to a $120 value) and two 60-minute spa treatments.
An overnight rate of $369 is offered on guestrooms that feature a 1,000-square-foot sundeck patio. Refer to the Arizona Sundeck rate.
The same rate of $369 is offered on a Escape! Family package which includes an in-room movie, a large pizza and unlimited kids beverages.
Double room-only rates start from $299 on bookings made by January 31.
