A deal from United Airlines takes you to Portland for a round-trip inclusive rate of $258.50. It’s valid daily, except Sundays starting on trips started on or after Oct. 8 (based on a 21-day advance notice of travel) and finished by Oct. 23. A three-night minimum stay is required.
This special rate doesn’t carry a ticket-by date meaning that it could expire at any moment.
The new Cabot Cove Cottages of Kennebunkport, Maine have been described as “love shacks.” What more do you want from a romantic or an adventurous weekend spent on the Atlantic coast?
The resort is set cove-side and each of the 16 whimsical cottages have been decorated by a different designer for unique charm. Modern amenities aren’t missing in all the coziness. Each cottage has a modern, fully-equipped kitchen, designer furnishings and other features such as wifi, DVD, TV, iPod clock/radio, hair dryer and ironing board and iron.
Guests enjoy breakfast in a basket delivered to the cottage door or to the private patio - and passes to the beach and use of rowboats and kayaks for exploring the Kennebunk River.
Nightly double rates start from $195 at four of the cottages and six cottages are priced at $215. Other pricier cottages can accommodate a third or fourth person.
From Cabot Cove Cottages, walk into the charming tree-lined town of Kennebunkport with its 18th and 19th century homes built by sea captains and today chocked with fine shops, galleries and restaurants. The town’s harbor is fun for a day of dreaming over gorgeous yachts and the nearby working harbor at Cape Porpoise is worthy of a visit to watch Maine’s lobstermen and fishermen come in with the day’s catch.
Fill a day with a bike ride along scenic coastal routes or take a boat trip on a lobster boat. Or take an architectural walking tour, including a National Register Historical District Village Walk, www.visitthekennebunks.com/Pages/tours_walking.html.
If that’s not enough, tee off at one of the two golf courses within five minutes of Cabot Cove.
Another great destination for leaf-peeping is in the great state of Vermont.
Get to Burlington with USAirways on trips started on or after Oct. 8 (based on a 21-day advance notice of travel) at a round-trip inclusive rate of $225. This rate is valid seven days a week on trips finished on or before Aug. 14, 2009.
The minimum stay is just one night and there are no blackout dates to work around.
If you can’t use this offer for an autumn getaway, consider it for winter ski and boarding trips.
Again, this rate doesn’t have a ticket-by date so make haste to buy tickets.
