A cultural feast will be available for Atlanta’s Jewish community this weekend.
Limmud, the local outgrowth of an international series of conventions, will bring bright minds, artists and speakers together today and Sunday for seminars, workshops and entertainment covering everything from cool trends in Jewish life to a presentation on a 12th-century Jew’s travelogue through Europe and the Middle East.
Nina Rubin, who helps bring Limmud together with more than 100 metro Atlanta volunteers, said about 600 people attended the festival last year, mostly from metro Atlanta.
This year, she said, she is getting e-mails from interested people from as far away as Chicago and Denver.
Limmud started in England and spread across Europe and to the United States. It brings volunteer speakers (only travel costs are reimbursed) to converse and interact on the most interesting or pressing issues for Jewish people, Rubin said.
Classes begin after sundown today; kosher food is available.
