Apartment of the Week: Mezzo
Where else would a cool lady be?

You’d expect Beth Weitzman, editor in chief of Jezebel, Atlanta’s magazine of luxury living, to be living a glamorous life high above Peachtree Street. That’s just what she’s been doing since mid-October, when she and her Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Jez and Bella, moved into Mezzo, the luxury apartment community in Buckhead.
With a condo in Vinings that wasn’t selling, Weitzman decided to turn it into a rental while she checked out high-rise living. She’s found that she and the “girls” love it.

Beth Weitzman, editor in chief of Atlanta magazine Jezebel, has designed her Mezzo home with her pets Jez and Bella in mind.
Getting there
Take I-75/85 north to I-75, to Exit 252A (Northside Drive). Turn right onto Northside Drive, then turn right onto Collier Road. Turn left onto Peachtree Street. Mezzo is ½ mile down on the right.

Livable lifestyles: Weitzman didn’t have to do her decorating alone. Her apartment is a showplace for the launch of the Jezebel Livable Lifestyles program. It teams designer Jim Weinberg with the trend-setting mavens at Jezebel to create living environments that cover everything from the functional — like getting the audio/visual components right — to finding the perfect lighting and fixtures to match a busy professional’s lifestyle.
Weitzman marvels that the team was able to finish the design and installation in her apartment in two weeks.
It’s pet-friendly: Mezzo offers a “pet respite” area, an enclosed space with specially treated indoor grass and grooming and bathing facilities. No more walking Jez and Bella in the rain. Of course, inside her residence, the pups have a palace of their own. The den has been turned into the dogs’ room, decorated in English country style and filled with toys and luxury beds to keep them happy while Weitzman is at work.
Apartment living: “I love it. I have no intention of leaving,” said Weitzman, laughing.
“And the girls have never been happier; their tails are wagging 24 hours a day.”
Part of the appeal is the mix of residents and Mezzo’s location just minutes from everything she needs.
“On the weekends I don’t even get in my car. We’re on the border of several neighborhoods where I can walk the girls, and I’m just two minutes from Fresh Market, a bakery and many great restaurants. It’s the perfect place if you have a taste for really cool, modern city living.”
At a glance
Beth Weitzman’s 12th-floor apartment has two bedrooms, two baths and a den that was turned into Jez and Bella’s space. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the living room and provide views of the Buckhead skyline and green tree-filled views of Bobby Jones Golf Course. A kitchen filled with Viking appliances and bath boasting a seamless glass-enclosed shower with a stone pillar that hides all the plumbing are just examples of the million-dollar touches in the Mezzo units.
