Bishop Weeks looking for a new wife after Bynum

Financial woes increase for ex-wife

Fresh off his divorce from national evangelist Juanita Bynum, Bishop Thomas W. Weeks III is looking for love again — this time on his own reality show.

Weeks, head of Duluth-based Global Destiny International Ministries, wants a new wife to mend his broken heart.

And he’s skipping the usual path to romance: chance meetings, singles mixers, social networking, speeding dating, fix-ups.

He is seeking advice from his followers.

Weeks will document his effort to open his heart to love again in 10 streaming video “Web Episodes” of his reality show “WHO WILL BE THE NEXT MRS. WEEKS,” which airs at noon Tuesday on his Web site www.bishopweeks.com. The idea came after Weeks was flooded with thousands of e-mails and letters from people offering advice about what to look for in his third wife. Some even offered to be his wife.

“There are some very adamant women,” says Weeks’ associate, Minister Guy Reeves of Global Destiny. “A lady from Belgium flew all the way here to meet him. She came to the campus. She wanted to be the next Mrs. Weeks like many others who have approached me about their strong desire to be Bishop Weeks’ wife.”

Weeks is inviting his followers to observe his personal life so they can get a Christian perspective on dating and coping with the desire for intimacy. The Pentecostal pastor will soon release a book about the subject called “Finding Yourself While In Transition.”

Viewers of his reality show can share their opinions on being single and his search for a mate by sending e-mails or chatting live with Weeks.

“What kind of advice would you give me about the new Mrs. Weeks?” he asks on a Web site promo of the episode.

“We will probably find in due time who is that perfect woman for me,” Weeks says. “This time I’m not going to limit it just to the local church … It’s a global ministry. We’ve got to have a global search.”

Weeks is still serving probation for attacking Bynum in August 2007 outside of the Renaissance Concourse Hotel in Atlanta. He was charged with aggravated assault as a first offender and has completed the required community service hours and anger management counseling.

Weeks says he hopes to wed again someday. His Web Episodes, however, won’t be an open call for a wife like typical reality dating shows. But if women send love letters — they will likely be shared. As for his standards, Weeks says on his promo the next Mrs. Weeks “can’t be ugly. She has to be easy on the eyes.”

While Weeks keeps his love life in the public eye, his divorce lawyer says he is not getting the payments he is supposed to from Bynum.

The lawyer, Randy Kessler, said Friday the evangelist is behind on a settlement agreement ending her union with Weeks, under which she agreed to pay $10,000 a month for four months to cover attorney fees when the couple divorced in June.

“She should have been almost done paying the $40,000 by now, but she’s just getting started,” Kessler said. “We have gotten one payment of $5,000.”

Kessler said Bynum still has not transferred the title to the couple’s 2004 Land Rover to Weeks or made arrangements to pick up antiques she wanted from the house.

Bynum’s Waycross compound, where she runs her international ministry, was recently facing foreclosure and a delinquent tax sale at the same time, according to Ware County Tax Commissioner Steve Barnard.

The tax sale was advertised in a Ware County newspaper for a week. Then, the Evangelical Christian Credit Union, the property’s finance company, stepped forward to absorb the bill.

“They gave me a check for $38,421.07,” Barnard said of ECCU. “I didn’t know they were doing a foreclosure on it also.”

The foreclosure also is being advertised in the Waycross Journal-Herald. Bynum’s 2007 original tax bill was $31,863.39, but it accrued interest and penalties for non-payment since last November.

The 2008 tax bill for Bynum’s compound is due Nov. 15. She owes another $32,940.42 for the land. A second smaller property under Bynum’s name in Waycross also is delinquent. The 2007 taxes for that parcel were originally, $1,413.97. The amount to date plus fees is $1,955.01, said Ware County tax officials.

A spokesperson for Bynum, Amy Malone, said she had no comment on either Weeks’ Web reality show or Bynum’s financial situation.

First of all it is quite unfortunate that the marriage between Bishop Weeks and Prophetess Bynum had to end in such a sad and scandalous way.
His search for a new wife is an insult to a severe injury. The reason why I says this itýs because: (1) the reason for ending their marriage in divorce was not supported by scripture. The bible makes it quite clear to us that a marriage can only end in divorce due to infidelity (Mat. 5:31-32).
In light of their marital problems which erupted in a public display of violence: it would have been better for the two of them to (a) separate temporarily in order to clear the air and attempt to reconcile their marriage or (b) separate permanently if there was no possibility of reconciliation.
In the worst case scenario: SEPARATION was the only alternative to their marital problems. The bible states that until there is proof of infidelity or until death do they part neither of them should be looking for a new husband or wife.
If Bishop Weeks continues in his folly to find himself a new wife ý then he would automatically make himself and that woman an ADULTERER (see. Mt. 5:31-32).

When a man finds a wife, he finds a good thing and favor with God. Bishop what God is saying to me is that the woman he has for you, have been created from your rib. Bishop you really need to read the creation story again. There is an order in which man selected his wife. God has great things for you. I hear the Lord say be still and know that I am God. God has to do a work in you. He does not want you to continue to carry Samsonite when He has Louis Vutton just waiting. I assure you the website in this fashion is not what God has for you. Woman we must not search for that man, he will find you in Gods timing. God bless to all!

This story is disturbing. Mr Meeks is immature and foolish in his attempt to 'recruit' a new wife. No wonder Bynum left him..never mind his assault against her..How I pray the Lord humbles Meeks before he does more damage to himself and his family. Very sad.

My comments are for the person that logged on in Dec. of 2008. Your initials are TP. How would you feel if Jesus Christ denied you forgiveness for something you had done? The Bible says: "We all have sinned and come short of God's glory. You can not throw rocks at someone else when you live in a glass house too. There is none perfect but the Father which is in heaven. The next time you decide to post something of that magnitude, think about yourself. Furthermore, I don't believe anything that you posted. The Bible said: "To testify of the things that you have seen." If you didn't see him write a check for that amount, you should not be sharing that kind of information with anyone. My advice to you today my friend, get a closer walk with the Lord

First of all Bishop, the Bible says that; A man that findeth a wife findeth a good thing. My question is: Should the woman come looking for you? Should your sanctuary be packed with women so to the point that there's no sitting room? Are you into the competitiveness that most African-American men allow themselves to get into when looking for a woman? What does a virtuous woman mean to you? Most men saved, or unsaved look past women that are humble, holy, meek, sanctified, not-bossy-but concerned about her man, until the desire to marry is no longer with her. I'm not really e-mailing you for a chance to be, or become the next Mrs. Weeks, but I have a spiritually hot group called Charismatic-Me and D-Charismatic-Me Team. God blessed me to write about 20 songs along with the musical arrangements for such a time as this. I have been praying for someone that could help sponser, and promote this blessed cause. Please pray about this. It has been a long time waiting, but the Lord is allowing this project to manifest, and I'm glad about it. I'm not really looking for a husband, however, a few minutes of your time to listen to my project would be a wonderful gift to me for 2009. May God bless and keep you in perfect peace. Sincerely, Charismatic-Me

Bishop,

I pray that you find what you need, but I promise you it is at the feet of Jesus. To those that are being so mean, the world will know that we are Christians by our love one toward the other. Please remember all the grace and mercy that God has so wonderully given unto you.

Always in my prayers,
Yolanda
