Warner Robins softball team wins Little League title
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The softball team from the Warner Robins American Little League won the Little League World Series on Wednesday night, defeating a team from Crawford, Texas, 14-2, in Portland, Ore.
With the victory, Warner Robins becomes the first Little League to have a baseball and a softball team win their respective World Series. The baseball team won its series in 2007.
The Warner Robins baseball team is again in the World Series in Williamsport, Pa., opening play at 5 p.m. Friday.
Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue and former President George W. Bush made a “friendly wager” on the game Wednesday afternoon. Perdue played for the Warner Robins Little League, and Bush has a ranch in Crawford, Texas. Perdue and Bush each agreed to donate $500 to a pool, from which 60 percent of the money would go to the winning Little League and 40 percent to the runner-up.
