Wiederhold’s fourth season with the Bulldogs was characterized by a disappointing season despite the anticipated strength of the team’s starting rotation when the season began.
The team finished 16-37, and the Bulldogs’ ERA was 8.51 overall and 8.48 in the SEC, both record highs in school history. In 2009, Georgia's pitching staff finished in the top half of the SEC in ERA, opposing batting average and fewest home runs allowed.
