But the number of possibilities is dwindling fast.
Tennessee’s Lane Kiffin told the Knoxville News Sentinel Tuesday that he voted for Tebow, calling him “a real special kid” who will be “a great NFL quarterback.”
ESPN.com’s Chris Low reported Wednesday that Arkansas’ Bobby Petrino, Vanderbilt’s Bobby Johnson, Kentucky’s Rich Brooks and Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen all said they chose Tebow as the first-team quarterback.
Tebow’s selection was not unanimous, which many found puzzling. Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion, failed to get the 11 votes he could have received. (A coach may not vote for his own player).
Low reasoned that Florida’s Urban Meyer voted for second-teamer Jevan Snead of Ole Miss (who beat Tebow in their head-to-head matchup last year), and that Rebels coach Houston Nutt picked Tebow.
If that’s true, five possibilities remain: Auburn’s Gene Chizik, LSU’s Les Miles, Georgia’s Mark Richt, Alabama’s Nick Saban and South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier.
So who do you think it was?
