UGA and that school from Atlanta meet again on gridiron
• Last week: Defeated Mississippi State 30-26 in Starkville.
• Last time played Georgia: LSU lost 52-38 in Baton Rouge last year.
• LSU on offense: The Tigers were successful throwing deep against Mississippi State. Sophomore quarterback Jordan Jefferson hit Brandon LaFell on a 58-yard deep post pattern and also completed passes of 39 and 40 yards to Terrance Toliver and R.J. Jackson. LaFell, who had six catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns last week, was the SEC's second leading receiver behind A.J. Green last year. LSU running back Charles Scott rushed for 1,174 yards last season but was held to 15 last week. Ciron Black has started 44 consecutive games at left tackle.
• LSU on defense: Brothers Chad Jones and Rahim Alem (formerly Al Jones) lead the defense of new coordinator John Chavis, who joined LSU in January after 20 years at Tennessee. Jones, the free safety, was named the National Defensive Player of the Week after a superb game against Mississippi State in which he had seven tackles (four solo) and two key plays on LSU's late, game-saving goal-line stand. Alem, a defensive end, has 12 career sacks.
• LSU on special teams: Jones returned a punt 93 yards for a touchdown last week.
• What you need to know: LSU has committed only three turnovers this season (compared to Georgia's 12) and forced 10 opponent turnovers (compared to Georgia's 3). LSU ranks No. 5 nationally in turnover margin (plus-7), while Georgia ranks 115th (minus-9).
• What you might not know: Georgia is the only SEC team that Les Miles has not beaten as LSU coach. He is 0-2 vs. the Dogs.
• Coach: Miles is 74-32 in eight-plus years as a head coach, including 46-11 in four-plus years at LSU.
