University of Georgia police have taken out arrest warrants for three suspects in connection with the April 7 crimes in Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall during an open house at the recently renovated building, according to a media report.
Two adults and a juvenile from Columbus are named in warrants UGA investigators filed Friday, UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson told the Athens Banner-Herald. Williamson said he would release names Monday.
Seven UGA football players said iPhones, iPods and other electronic devices valued at $1,330 were stolen out of their lockers, which were not locked in the normally heavily secured building. Access typically requires fingerprint identification, but the building was unsecured for faculty appreciation day.
The seven players are Jamel Allen, Kenarious Gates, Abry Jones, Jordan Love, Rhett McGowan, Alexander Ogletree and Shawn Williams.
The most expensive single item lifted was Jones' Apple iPhone 4 with red and black otter box. It was valued at $500.
