Dumping Georgia-Auburn rivalry would be bad for college football
"Emotions were flying, and I was just trying to make a play," Williams said. "Tebow is a great player, and it's obvious you got to get him on the ground or he's going to spark something.
"I didn't think anything of it. I wasn't trying to hurt him or anything, but was just out there playing. Emotions got going. It's Georgia-Florida, you know."
The play did not draw a penalty, but Meyer said on a teleconference Wednesday that it should have.
"I agree with that," Mark Richt said later. "[Williams] could have gotten called for that."
Coaches routinely ask the SEC's coordinator of officials to review video of questionable calls.
