ATHENS — Whether to keep the Georgia-Florida football game in Jacksonville after next year will be discussed — and probably decided — at a meeting of the UGA Athletic Board today.

“We need to have some discussion take place and a determination tomorrow,” Georgia athletics director Damon Evans said Tuesday.
Evans said there have been talks with Jacksonville but no new contract. He said the decision involves himself, UGA President Michael Adams and the board. Evans declined to express his preference, saying he didn’t want to get ahead of the board meeting.
Florida has said it wants to keep the game in Jacksonville after the current contract expires with the 2010 game. Evans and Adams previously have said UGA is open to all options but is reluctant to move the game because of its tradition in Jacksonville, where it has been played for all but two years since 1933.
Evans said the Athletic Association’s board of directors also will discuss possible improvements to Stegeman Coliseum today.
