"He'll serve at the Tech game and may serve at the bowl game," Georgia associate athletics director Claude Felton said today.
Uga VII died unexpectedly last week.
Russ will not be next in line of permanent Uga mascots, Felton said. Uga VIII will be chosen next year.
Russ won't be the first first interim bulldog mascot in Georgia football history. In 1986, "Otto" famously filled in for four games when his younger brother, Uga IV, was sidelined with a knee injury. Georgia went 3-1 with Otto as mascot. Uga IV and Otto then served as co-mascots as Georgia beat Georgia Tech in the 1986 regular-season finale.
