The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

ATHENS -- At least one person is not upset about Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes' apparent attempt to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey.

That would be ... Ealey, who told reporters Tuesday that Spikes should not have been punished for the incident.

"I don't think he should have gotten suspended at all," Ealey said. "We were just out there playing football."

Florida suspended Spikes for the first half of Saturday's game against Vanderbilt.

Ealey said his eyes are fine:  "I had my eyes closed, and he really didn't gouge my eyes. He really didn't get his hands close to my eyes."
