Comparing last year's Dogs to this year
A look at the productivity on offense lost from last season’s Georgia team and how the Bulldogs will try to replace it:
PASSING
Lost: 96 percent of last year’s yardage
Who’s gone: Matthew Stafford, who completed 235 of 383 passes for 3,459 yards.
Who’s here: Joe Cox takes over at quarterback after completing 11 of 15 passes for 151 yards last year.
RUSHING
Lost: 75 percent of last year’s yardage
Who’s gone: Knowshon Moreno, who ran for 1,400 yards on 250 carries.
Who’s here: Caleb King (61 carries for 247 yards last year) and Richard Samuel (26 for 133) are currently Nos. 1 and 2 on the tailback depth chart. But the competition is open, and three other contenders — redshirt freshmen Carlton Thomas and Dontavious Jackson and true freshman Washaun Ealey — have no collegiate carries among them.
RECEIVING
Lost: 51 percent of last year’s yardage
Who’s gone: Mohamed Massaquoi, who caught 58 passes for 920 yards; Moreno, who caught 33 for 392; and Kenneth Harris and Demiko Goodman, who chipped in 11 catches apiece. (Also, Kris Durham, with 13 catches last year, will be redshirted this season because of a shoulder injury.)
Who’s here: A.J. Green (56 catches for 963 yards as a freshman last season) returns for an encore, and Michael Moore (29 catches for 451 yards last year) will be called on more often. Georgia also will look to Tavarres King and Israel Troupe, who combined for six catches last year, and incoming freshmen Marlon Brown, Rantavious Wooten and Orson Charles.
