6 key Dogs miss practice
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The epidemic of strained and pulled hamstrings continues on Georgia’s football team, with safeties Reshad Jones and Bryan Evans, tailback Caleb King, tight end Aron White and linebackers Akeem Dent and Darius Dewberry among those missing practice Tuesday, but UGA coach Mark Richt said he doesn’t think the number of hamstring injuries is out of the ordinary.

Fan talk: SEC expansion, Richt’s contract, outdated offense and more!
“I just think it happens every single camp,” he said. “Somebody is going to pull a muscle, strain a hamstring mostly. It just happens.”
Richt said it’s unwise to try to rush back from hamstring injuries.
“I always like to tell the guys that when you feel like you’re ready, you’re still another three or four days away, at least, because they can recur,” he said.
Etc.
● Senior Marcus Washington, a linebacker throughout his UGA career, is now working exclusively at defensive end, Richt confirmed. “We know he can play linebacker if need be, but he’s in the meetings and taking every rep at D-end right now.”
● Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said Logan Gray remains a “solid No. 2” at quarterback, ahead of freshmen Aaron Murray and Zach Mettenberger. “There’s always a chance of movement,” Bobo said. “You never know what is going to happen in the season.”
● Defensive end Kiante Tripp missed Tuesday’s practice with a bruised shoulder.
● Richt was unhappy with the practice, the first after a two-day break. “As a team, we didn’t practice hard enough, weren’t disciplined enough [and] just didn’t have the day we need to [have] to get where we want to go.”
