Here are a few things to know on Wednesday:

1. Braves beat Nationals

The Atlanta Braves won the series opener at the Washington Nationals 8-0 on Tuesday night thanks to a three-run home run by Freddie Freeman. The Braves and Nationals play the second of three games on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

2. Braves 2017 schedule released

Major League Baseball released the tentative 2018 MLB schedule on Tuesday. To see the Braves schedule and which games will be played at SunTrust Park, visit the AJC.com.

3. Georgia Tech won't seek replacement game

With the cancelation of Georgia Tech's game against UCF on Saturday, the Yellow Jackets will not look for a game to play during their open date. Ken Sugiura has more.

4. Danica Patrick loses NASCAR job

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick no longer has a racing sponsor. Patrick wrote in a statement on her Facebook page on Tuesday that her partnership with Stewart-Haas Racing has "come to an end." More details on the AJC.com.

5. Braves hire Mets' Fischer as assistant GM

The Atlanta Braves announced the hiring of former New York Mets' official Adam Fischer as assistant general manager on Tuesday. The Braves also announced another hire and an in-house promotion that can be read on the AJC.com.
