Reed proclaims Friday Soccer Day in Atlanta
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said Friday will be declared Soccer Day in Atlanta.
The U.S. is submitting its bid to FIFA on Friday to host the World Cup in either 2018 or 2022.
Atlanta is one of the 18 cities included in the bid.
Reed made the declaration at a press conference for the Atlanta International Soccer Challenge, an event that will pair Mexico power Club America against England's Manchester City, one of the richest clubs in the world, on July 28 at the Georgia Dome.
