Roswell romps past Tift

Roswell 42, Tift County 7: The Hornets scored early and often in their opener against the visiting Blue Devils. Roswell built a 21-0 second-quarter lead and was never threatened. Roswell needed only three plays on its second possession to take a 7-0 lead on Duval Smith’s 6-yard run. Smith’s 3-yard touchdown made it 21-0 at 10:43 of the second quarter, culminating a two-play, 49-yard drive. Sandwiched between his two first-half touchdowns was Martez Sumner’s 4-yard run.
A 31-yard touchdown pass from Brian Hickman to Chris Boyd and Smith’s third touchdown run highlighted Roswell’s second half.
Markeyes Hayes scored Tift County’s touchdown in the first half.
