Douglass' Smith among Touchdown Club honorees

Henry County wide receiver Markeith Ambles, Douglass defensive tackle Garrison Smith and Hiram coach Andy Dorsey are the winners of the Touchdown Club of Atlanta's weekly awards.

Ambles, the back of the week, caught six passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns last week in Henry County's 32-14 victory over Howard. He also had a 37-yard punt return and a 42-yard kickoff return and made six tackles on defense. For the year, Ambles has 50 catches for 830 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has committed to Tennessee.
Smith, the lineman of the week, is rated the No. 1 defensive tackle in Georgia by Scout and Rivals but has labored for a 1-8 team that finishes its season this week. Smith has a 3.5 grade-point average and a 1,280 score on the SAT. He has committed to Georgia.
Ambles and Smith have been chosen to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl all-star game on Jan. 9 in San Antonio.
Dorsey, the coach of the week, led Hiram to a 28-27 victory over Sprayberry last week, clinching a state playoff berth. Hiram is 9-0 and will face Dalton on Friday for the Region 7-AAAA championship.
The honorees will be recognized Monday at the Touchdown Club's weekly meeting at Fox Sports Grill in Atlantic Station. The guest speakers will be former Georgia stars David Greene and Matt Stinchcomb. The program, sponsored by the Army, can be seen live on www.touchdownatlanta.com at 12:25 p.m.
