Creekside slips by East Coweta
For the AJC
Creekside 13, East Coweta 9: Senior quarterback Tara Sewell ran for a 43-yard touchdown and threw a 34-yard pass to Johnathen Bowens in the second half to rally the host Seminoles.
Creekside (4-0) did not gain a first down prior to halftime and limited East Coweta (3-1) to two first downs in the second half — both on the Indians’ final desperation drive — to turn the tables and take possession of first place in Region 4-AAAAA.
East Coweta senior running back Tay Willis rushed 27 times for 155 yards (142 in the first half) and kicker Mikey Zeidler kicked three field goals in the first half to give the Indians a 9-0 lead at intermission but they could not find paydirt on four possessions inside Creekside’s 20-yard line.
Seminoles defensive lineman Marcus Robinson sacked Indians quarterback Zach Hutcheson near midfield on the final play of the game to ice the victory.
