Elsewhere, Lovett's stadium completely underwater, creating schedule headache

Cobb County football coaches have yet to hear if they will be allowed to play Friday.

The school district canceled classes Tuesday and Wednesday because of flood damage and did not allow any extracurricular activities Monday. At the earliest date, the first day of football practice this week would be Thursday — if classes resume by then.
"It's out of our hands; we haven't heard anything yet from the county office," South Cobb coach Ed Koester said. "We don't know what's going to happen, but it's kind of unfair to ask the kids to play on Friday with everything that has happened. We don't even know if we will be back at school on Friday."
But it isn't just Cobb schools dealing with the aftermath of the past weekend's heavy rains. Lovett football coach Mike Muschamp says the Lions are trying to move their game against Cross Keys from Friday at Lovett's stadium to Saturday at Decatur because the Lions' football field is flooded.
"We are trying to practice in a gym right now, but power has been an issue as it is off and on," Muschamp says.
Muschamp is still awaiting word on whether Lovett's game will be rescheduled and moved.
