Cartersville falls to Westminster

Westminster 27, Cartersville 7: Ralph David Abernathy scored two touchdowns and had 196 yards of offense as Westminster won its first game of the season. Abernathy scored the first of Westminster’s back-to-back touchdowns on big plays to open the game, going 54 yards on a screen pass from Jonathan York with 11 minutes left in the first quarter.
Later, York and Westminster (1-2) completed another long touchdown pass. York found Dylan Feffay down the right sideline for a 65-yard score with 8:29 to go in the period. York had 156 yards on 8-of-9 passing with one interception for the Wildcats.
Abernathy, a junior running back, came up with a big play again with a little over 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter, this time on a 34-yard touchdown run. The Wildcats’ final score came after three runs for 80 yards by Abernathy.
