Carrollton rallies past Whitewater

Carrollton 21, Whitewater 14: The Trojans (4-0) scored three unanswered touchdowns and held off the Wildcats (2-2) late to preserve the victory.

Whitewater took the lead in the first quarter when Brandon Collins took a pitch on a reverse and ran 40 yards for a touchdown. Carrollton answered with a 47-yard scoring pass from A.J. Barge to Marlandas Crane.

The other two Trojan scores came when the Wildcats were forced to punt from deep in their own end zone. Louis Hudson’s 3-yard touchdown run capped a 39-yard drive and made it a 14-6 game less than a minute before halftime, and Telvin Brown dashed 37 yards for a score on a punt return late in the third quarter. Brown had a 65-yard punt return TD called back in the first half due to a penalty.

Whitewater’s D.J. Welch threw a 29-yard pass to Jeff Ashley for the final score of the game. The Wildcats’ final drive was stopped after two key sacks forced a fourth-and-29 which they could not convert.
