His departure also marks 23 years as general manager of the Braves Class AAA franchise.

The team has not named a replacement. Baldwin said he would remain with the Gwinnett Braves as a special minor league consultant.

"I love this organization, but I love my family more, and they're back in Richmond," Baldwin said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to be back with my family full time and that I can remain working with the Braves."

The Gwinnett Braves moved to Georgia this year -- and into a flashy new stadium -- after spending 42 years in Richmond.

Baldwin's time with the Braves started in Pulaski, Va., in the Appalachian League with stops in Savannah -- with the Braves AA minor league team -- and in Greenville, S.C.

Baldwin then moved to Richmond, where he spent 22 years before helping the team move to Gwinnett.
