Who will win: Tech or Wake Forest?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
There was an ounce of doubt last week, as 8 percent of voters (320) picked Vanderbilt over Tech. Really.
The 10th-ranked Yellow Jackets are riding high on a six-game winning, their longest since 2000.
Jonathan Dwyer had a career-best 186 of the Jackets' season-high 404 rushing yards Saturday against Vanderbilt. Tech ranks second behind Nevada (319.1) is rushing yards per game with 304.1 yards per game.
Wake Forest is allowing 141.7 yards per game, but is somewhat familiar with Georgia Tech Paul Johnson's spread triple option. The Demon Deacons allowed 338 yards on the ground in a 13-10 loss to Navy, Johnson's former team, earlier this season. Navy, however, didn't attempt a single pass.
Wake's senior quarterback Riley Skinner, who suffered a concussion in last week's 28-27 loss to Miami, has been cleared to play and is expected to start his 33rd consecutive game. His backup, Ryan McManus, has thrown just 14 passes this season for 47 yards and no touchdowns.
Georgia Tech leads the all-time series against Wake, 20-8. Saturday's game is the first meeting between the two teams since Wake Forest beat the Yellow Jackets, 9-6, in the 2006 ACC championship game.
