Tech linebacker Jackson injures foot

Georgia Tech starting linebacker Kyle Jackson will likely miss August practices because of an injured right foot, coach Paul Johnson said Monday.
“It doesn’t look good right now,” Johnson said. “He’s going to see another specialist.”
Jackson is wearing a walking boot. The injury occurred to the middle part of his foot but it’s unclear when or how he was hurt.
Linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary said Jackson said the foot was bothering him during the spring but thought it was a just a sore spot that would get better with rest. Instead, doctors and trainers haven’t been able to diagnose the injury. Jackson is going to see a specialist in Charlotte on Friday who has worked with players on the NBA’s Bobcats and NFL’s Panthers.
Jackson, 6 feet and 228 pounds, played in the T-Day game and forced a fumble. He was the ACC defensive rookie of the year last season after starting 10 games and making 61 tackles. Jean-Mary said Steven Sylvester will start August as the weakside linebacker.
“He [Jackson] helped us win a lot of football games,” Jean-Mary said. “Hopefully it’s not too bad and he can come back at full speed.”
