Media guide typo shows UGA tied Tech last year

How can be a bitter loss be turned into an innocent tie?
Easy. When a stray number is inadvertently typed into a media guide.
As fans of Georgia and Georgia Tech know, the Jackets defeated the Bulldogs 45-42 in football last year in Sanford Stadium, snapping a seven-game losing streak to their cross-state rival. Georgia’s media guide for the 2009 season lists the correct score in four of five places, but accidentally states it as 42-42 on page 163.
Claude Felton, Georgia’s hall-of-fame sports information director, laughed off the mistake in an e-mail to Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Mark Bradley on Thursday, writing “I guess we felt like a tie was better than a loss.”
Dean Buchan, the SID at Georgia Tech, said mistakes happen.
“When I saw that this morning, I felt bad because I guarantee there are mistakes in everybody’s media guide,” he said. “Claude and his staff do a great job every year.”
For the record, the score is correct in Georgia Tech’s media guide.
