3 keys to the game

1. Win time of possession: The Yellow Jackets won this category, 30:58-29:02. Tech did it with a ground game that generated 412 yards. Wake did its part with a passing game that totaled 263 yards.

2. Get pressure on Riley Skinner: The Jackets couldn’t get close to him in the first half, making one sack. The result was Skinner was able to lead the Deacons to 17 points. In the second half, Tech got three sacks, and Wake scored only 10 points, including three in overtime.

3. Don’t give up big plays: Wake had two big plays at the half and got two more in the final two quarters. But Tech produced its share, as well, with six plays of 20 yards or more. The Deacons averaged 4.5 yards per play, the third-lowest total of the season.

*Scott Blair’s 45-yard field goal in the first quarter was the longest of his career. His previous best was a 39-yarder against Virginia in 2008.

*Kickoff time for next week’s game against Duke will be announced Sunday.
