Tech's Radakovich affirms, critiques ACC
At a fan event Tuesday night, Georgia Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich affirmed his school’s membership in the ACC while offering commentary on the state of the league. Ga. Tech men's basketball season-ticket sales begin Monday
Georgia Tech will begin its sale of men’s basketball season tickets Monday for the first season in the new McCamish Pavilion. Season tickets for the 17-game home schedule will be $330 in addition to associated Tech Fund contributions. The ticket price is $105 less than the price for Tech’s 16-game home schedule in 2010-11, the last season in Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

ACC sets early-season kickoff times
The ACC will try to keep Georgia Tech out of the heat in September. The league issued kickoff times for the first three weeks of the season, none of which leave the Yellow Jackets with a dreaded noon start. As requested of the league, Tech will play its Sept.

Thomas O'Reilly transfers to Tech
Former Auburn guard Thomas O’Reilly has transferred to Georgia Tech, enrolling Wednesday, the school confirmed. After sitting out a season, O’Reilly will have three seasons of eligibility remaining. O’Reilly, from Pope High, chose Auburn over Tech coming out of high school.

The best memory that Georgia Tech first baseman Jake Davies holds of playing Georgia was his first. As a freshman relief pitcher in 2009, Davies entered the game as the Bulldogs, then ranked first in the country, were rallying. It’s Frank Wren’s ballpark. Tuesday was Kyle Wren’s night. The Georgia Tech center fielder, son of the Braves’ general manager, delivered the game-winning hit against Georgia in the Yellow Jackets’ 4-3 win at Turner Field. From his box seat, the elder Wren watched with approval as Wren yanked a two-out double in the top of the ninth against Bryan Benzor that scored Mott Hyde for the winning run.

There’s likely only one Georgia Tech student that athletic director Dan Radakovich feels comfortable telling to get out of bed and get to the game — his son Christian. The rest of them, Radakovich has bent to their will. Partially in response to Tech students who said that the Yellow Jackets’ many noon kickoffs last season were too early and too hot, the school has moved its annual spring game to Friday night.

Tweaks made to Tech defense
At the start of spring practice, Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Al Groh had an announcement to make to his players. The defense would be adjusted to play to the players’ strengths. Given that players such as defensive ends Izaan Cross and Emmanuel Dieke are more SUV than monster truck, the tweaks would utilize their quickness.
