Georgia Tech No. 11 in AP poll

Georgia Tech moved up eight spots to No. 11 in the new Associated Press college football poll on Sunday, and is now the second-highest rated ACC team behind No. 8 Miami. The Yellow Jackets are No. 13 in the USA Today poll.

The Jackets (6-1, 4-1) defeated Virginia Tech, 28-23, Saturday night in Bobby Dodd Stadium, their first win over a top five team at home since 1962.
It's the highest Georgia Tech has been in the AP poll, since it was No. 9 on Sept. 24, 2001.
The Hokies dropped from No. 4 to No. 15.
Alabama supplanted Florida as No. 1. The Gators, the defending national champs, had been No. 1 since the start of the season but lost some sheen after a lackluster 23-20 win against Arkansas on Saturday.
