Georgia Tech moved up eight spots to No. 11 in the new Associated Press college football poll on Sunday, and is now the second-highest rated ACC team behind No. 8 Miami. The Yellow Jackets are No. 13 in the USA Today poll.

The Jackets (6-1, 4-1) defeated Virginia Tech, 28-23, Saturday night in Bobby Dodd Stadium, their first win over a top five team at home since 1962.

It's the highest Georgia Tech has been in the AP poll, since it was No. 9 on Sept. 24, 2001.

The Hokies dropped from No. 4 to No. 15.

Alabama supplanted Florida as No. 1. The Gators, the defending national champs, had been No. 1 since the start of the season but lost some sheen after a lackluster 23-20 win against Arkansas on Saturday.
