Cink to appear on 'Letterman'
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Stewart Cink, fresh off his victory at the British Open on Sunday, will appear on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on Tuesday to do a Top 10 list.
“You can’t really turn that down,” Cink said Monday.
Letterman has had other winners of majors on in the past.
Zach Johnson appeared after winning the Masters in 2007 to do “Top 10 things I can say now that I’ve won the Masters.”
Lucas Glover did something similar after winning the U.S. Open earlier this year.
Cink said he thinks his will be along the same lines.
The Georgia Tech grad said he and wife Lisa and sons Connor and Reagan got back from Scotland Monday afternoon, and about 25 friends met them at the airport. They proceeded to go to Houston’s restaurant near Lenox Mall to celebrate. Of course, the Claret Jug went with them.
Once they got home, they found several congratulatory signs in their yard, courtesy of their neighbors in the Sugarloaf area of Duluth.
He said the Jug is currently sitting on the island in their kitchen, and will probably be moved around the house from time to time. He doesn’t have a trophy case for it, but says he'll eventually make space for it.
Cink said he doesn’t feel any differently off the course, but now knows he has something extra to draw from when he’s playing.
“The only thing that feels different is I have a little bit more in the tank to draw from than I did before,” Cink said. “The way that I was able to finish the tournament off. Played really, really well in the playoff. That gives me a lot of confidence that I can do it under the pressure. I knew, but until you can do it under major championship pressure, it’s not the same.”
