Georgia State made its free throws and defeated James Madison 67-64 on Tuesday night in Harrisonburg, Va.

The Panthers made 21 of their 24 free throws, including five of six in the final minute, to keep alive their hopes of finishing in fourth in the Colonial Athletic Association, which comes with a bye in the conference tournament.

Georgia State (18-9, 10-6) still needs a lot of help, though. The teams the Panthers are chasing, Delaware and Old Dominion, won Tuesday. With two conference games remaining, the Panthers need the Blue Hens to lose at least one and the Monarchs to lose both. Georgia State will play host to Old Dominion on Feb. 22.

The Panthers got another solid game from Jihad Ali. He scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds, both team highs. He has scored at least 12 points in seven consecutive games.

Devonta White scored 13 points, Rashaad Richardson 12 and Josh Micheaux 10. James Madison’s Andrey Semenov scored 22 points on a career-high six 3-pointers, and teammate A.J. Davis added 20.
