What the Falcons said after 23-20 win over Giants

Falcons defensive lineman discusses limiting Giants running back in 23-20 victory Monday.

What Falcons players said after the 23-20 victory over the Giants Monday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium:

JULIO JONES, wide receiver

On adjustments: "They were just sending pressure. They were coming off the edge and through the A-gap. Things like that. Double A (gap) blitz. They were trying to get Matt off his spot. Get some pressure and get some hands in his face. He was able to see and get the ball out of his quick."

On his fumble: "The refs made the right call. I just have to do a better job in that situation of securing the ball."

On offense's performance: "It's the next man up. All of the receivers came in. We had six guys up and everybody can play. We have very talented wide receivers. We have to go out there execute and make plays. Marvin did a good job for us today, on that touchdown the deep ball. Matt threw a perfect ball to him. It was great."

On getting Grady Jarrett back: "Grady, getting him back on defense was big. His energy. He's a leader is what he brings to the defensive line. Even for me, when he goes out there and gets sack it fires me to want to go out there and play."

On getting two wins in a row: "This ball club, we just have to continue to keep building. The games we lost in the past, six points or last, we have to figure out how to win games. Last week, we figured out a way to win and this week we figured out a way to win. It's great. We are on a streak now. We've got two games under our belt. We just have to keep going and keep winning in winning situations."

DESMOND TRUFANT, cornerback

On the defense: "The front seven did a great job of putting pressure on them. Once you get the quarterback out of his comfort zone and off his spot, it's hard for them to complete passes. They did a great job up front."

On the bye week: "Definitely it's a good time (physically) to get my body right. Getting my legs back. Looking forward to it, but at the same time, I'm looking forward to compete."

On rebounding from 1-4 start: "We always felt we were still in it regardless of how we started. We just had to get some momentum and find what works for us and keep moving. There is a lot of ball left. We can do a lot of damage out there."

On more injuries: "It's been that kind of year for us. But the next man is stepping up and doing his job. We just have to keep pushing as a unit and a team."

RICKY ORTIZ, fullback

On catching a couple of passes: "It was nice. It was fun. Monday Night. Big stage. Just to help the team get the win was big for me. Blocking. Pass protection or catching a few balls."

On staying ready for passes: "For sure, that's the beautiful thing about our offense. We get the ball to a lot of different guys and we all have different skill sets. We are also distributing the ball to different people. It's good for just the later games as far as film goes and other teams studying us. They have to cover all of us."

CALVIN RIDLEY, wide receiver

On offensive weapons: "Coming into the game, everybody was playing. Marvin (Hall), (Justin) Hardy and Russell (Gage), those guys compete and can play with anybody. That's how we win."

GEORGIO TAVECCHIO, place-kicker

On pressure: "It's Monday Night Football. It's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It's a cool stadium. You never want to step out there without have some skin in the game. I just got here. Things are kind of new. That maybe makes it a little easier to be detached when your are just seeing things for the first time. I will just continue to focus on my routine."

MARVIN HALL, wide receiver

On his touchdown catch: "I saw the safety had jumped the route and I had a one-on-one. I just made the most of my opportunity."

On contributing to the offense: "It always feels great to make play for my team."

On spreading ball around to 10 receivers: "It keeps the defense honest. They can't just key on one person. We have a lot of weapons. You have to deal with all of us."
