Here are five things to know about the Falcons today:

1. Practice. The Falcons return from their bye week and will hold practice at 11:55 a.m. Coach Dan Quinn will address the media after practice and there will be an open locker room session.

2. Roster move coming. Before leaving for the bye, the Falcons placed defensive tackle Jack Crawford (torn biceps) on injured reserved. The team is expected to make a corresponding move. The Falcons worked out defensive end Sterling Bailey (Georgia), linebacker Lavar Edwards (Louisiana State), defensive end Pat O'Connor (Eastern Michigan), defensive end Devin Taylor (South Carolina), defensive end Nicholas Williams (Samford) and defensive end Jonathan Woodward (Central Arkansas) last Monday.

3. Dolphins up next. Miami defeated Tennessee 16-10 to improve to 2-2 on Sunday. The Falcons host the Dolphins at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.

4. The Roof? Exactly why did the stadium powers spend all the money on a retractable roof if they are going to close it on nice days? Taxpayers and PSL purchasers need an explanation.

5. NFC South standings. Carolina is in first place at 4-1, followed by the Falcons (3-1), Bucs (2-2) and Saints (2-2). Panthers quarterback Cam Newton passed for more than 300 yards for the second consecutive week to lead his squad to a 27-24 victory over Detroit at Ford Field. Newton, the former Westlake High star, completed 26 of 33 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns after a controversial week which included him making condescending remarks to a female reporter and then apologizing.
