Three was a special number for the Dream in their 97-82 victory against the Connecticut Sun at Philips Arena on Friday.

The Dream increased their record to 3-0 behind big games from three key players.

Angel McCoughtry scored 32 points and had 10 rebounds and five assists. She scored two points less than her career-high of 34 points against San Antonio last season.

Sancho Lyttle scored a career-high 27 points and had 17 rebounds. Iziane Castro Marques scored 18 points and had four assists.

They combined to score 40 points in the first half.

"Its called the word ‘team'," Meadors said. "This was a great team win tonight."

“We defended, we rebounded and we scored layups,” Dream coach/general manager Marynell Meadors said.

McCoughtry scored 11 points in the first quarter, and Castro Marques scored 15 points in the first half as the Dream (3-0) built a 51-32 lead at halftime.

The Dream shot 61.8 percent from the field (21-of-34) in the first half and scored 12 points on 12 Connecticut turnovers.

"We played three good games of defense [this season], and that has ignited our offense," Meadors said. "We defend, we rebound and we push the ball, and I don't think there is anybody in the league who is any faster than us."

The Dream starts a four-game road trip with a game at New York on Sunday.
