Athens — The University of Georgia, which has been scrambling to find two opponents to complete its 2010 home football schedule, has found one: the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Bulldogs will play the Ragin’ Cajuns, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, in the season opener at Sanford Stadium on Sept. 4, 2010, unless the game is shifted to later in the season to accommodate another opponent, Georgia associate athletics director Arthur Johnson said Monday.
The game will be Georgia’s first against Louisiana-Lafayette, a Division I-A program that went 6-6 last season.
The Bulldogs’ 2010 non-conference schedule also includes the annual Georgia Tech game and a trip to Colorado.
Georgia continues to seek a fourth non-conference opponent for 2010.
“We’ve got a lot of calls out to people and [are having] a couple of discussions,” said Johnson, whose duties include football scheduling. “One of the things I’ve run into is … some people may have more flexibility on the opener than later in the season.”
