UGA flanker Green ‘100 percent now’

Athens — For the first time since last summer, Georgia flanker A.J. Green says he is completely healthy.
Green led the SEC in receiving yards as a freshman last year, despite being bothered by a groin injury that lingered from August’s first practice through the Capital One Bowl and into last month’s start of spring practice.
But asked Monday if the injury is still bothering him, Green said, “Nope, not a bit. I’m 100 percent now.”
He missed parts of practice two weeks ago when the injury flared up, but says he expects no more problems.
“I’ve gotten a lot of treatment, and … the trainers have gotten me more flexible,” he said. “I think it had a lot to do with not being flexible [enough].”
Despite his superb freshman season, Green has said he expects to have a better 2009: “I’m going to have to show the fans what I can do when I’m 100 percent.”
Munzenmaier carries double load
Fred Munzenmaier, the backup fullback who created a stir at tailback in a scrimmage on Saturday, worked at both positions in practice Monday.
The Norcross High graduate, who’ll be a redshirt junior in the fall, said he’s enjoying the opportunity to run the ball after focusing mostly on blocking in his first three years at Georgia.
“It definitely was fun,” he said of Saturday’s scrimmage, in which he was the team’s leading rusher with 54 yards on 11 carries. “I definitely hadn’t touched the ball much since I’ve been here, so I just tried to go back to my [Norcross] roots and take the ball and run.”
Richt predicted Munzenmaier will get some carries at tailback in Saturday’s G-Day spring game.
Etc.
Georgia practiced for 90 minutes on a cold, windy afternoon Monday. The temperature dropped into the 40s, with wind gusts of up to 30 miles an hour. “I wore some longjohns and layered up, and it didn’t help,” said Georgia coach Mark Richt, sipping a post-practice hot chocolate. … Tailback Dontavius Jackson participated fully for the first time this spring, shedding the green non-contact jersey he had been wearing. Jackson is coming back from December arthroscopic knee surgery. … Tailback Kalvin Daniels, sidelined last week with a banged-up shoulder, practiced. … Safety Bryan Evans missed practice after suffering a concussion in Saturday’s scrimmage. Richt said Evans might be able to practice Wednesday, the next time the Bulldogs will be on the field.
