Athens — Internal University of Georgia documents — obtained under open-records laws — confirm that football signee Dexter Moody was released from his letter of intent because of an incident at Moody’s high school.
Assistant athletics director Glada Horvat wrote to David Graves, UGA’s senior associate director of admissions, in a Monday e-mail: “We are releasing Dexter Moody from his letter of intent today. Apparently there was some altercation at the school.”
Moody was one of 20 players who had signed a letter of intent to play for the Bulldogs.
Georgia says it cannot comment on the matter because of NCAA rules. Moody, a linebacker from Emanuel County Institute, told the AJC he was dropped by Georgia because of a suspension he received for allegedly threatening a teacher.
