The recession did not affect college football attendance around the country — or in Athens — last fall, according to official NCAA statistics.
Attendance at Division I-A games nationwide totaled 37,483,158, or 46,971 per game, both figures narrowly exceeding the previous record highs set in 2007. The figures include regular-season and bowl games.
Georgia ranked No. 6 among 119 Division I-A teams in home attendance, drawing a Sanford Stadium-capacity 92,746 per game, unchanged from the year before.
