UGA’s Moreno named an All-American

Athens - Georgia tailback Knowshon Moreno, the first Bulldog with back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons since Herschel Walker, was named Thursday to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America team. The redshirt sophomore from Belford, N.J., leads the SEC and is 15th nationally in rushing with 1,338 yards - or 111.5 per game - and has scored 17 touchdowns.

The other running back on the AFCA team was Iowa’s Shonn Greene.

Moreno is Georgia’s first All-American since offensive guard Max Jean-Gilles and safety Greg Blue in 2005. The Bulldogs’ last All-America running back was Garrison Hearst in 1992.
