Athens — While Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno insist they haven’t focused yet on whether to enter the 2009 draft, some Georgia fans already are trying to sway their eventual decisions.
At a recently launched independent Web site called DontGoDawgs.com, more than 100 fans had posted messages as of Tuesday imploring Stafford and Moreno to play one more season for Georgia.
According to the site: “This … is a place for us to show our appreciation and make our request — Don’t Go Dawgs!”
Stafford, the junior quarterback, and Moreno, the redshirt sophomore tailback, said Tuesday they will consider their draft options after Georgia’s season is complete.
“This is not the time yet,” Moreno said. He indicated he’s not leaning one way or the other.
Stafford said the magnitude of the Nov. 29 regular-season finale against Georgia Tech makes it easy for him and Moreno to stay focused on this season.
As for the draft, “I don’t know what I’ll do,” Stafford said.
“Classmates and fans ask me all the time to stay, that kind of stuff,” he said.
