Georgia tailback Knowshon Moreno on Saturday became only the second Bulldog to rush for 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons. The other? Herschel Walker.

Moreno had 123 yards rushing on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns against Kentucky. That gives him 1,113 yards this season and 2,447 for his career. Walker went over 1,000 yards in three straight seasons from 1980-82.

Moreno had to fight for every yard Saturday.

“It was really tough,” said Moreno, who also had three catches for 40 yards. “Kentucky has a really tough defense and is a really good team in general. Like I keep saying, every SEC team is good.”

Moreno’s three TDs gives him 15 this season, the most by a Georgia player since Garrison Hearst had 21 in 1992.

Richt is not surprised.

“Knowshon, he gives us energy, he gives us confidence,” Richt said. “He practice unbelievably well from Tuesday on and I’m really proud of his effort this week.”
