Georgia defensive tackle Brandon Wood was arrested early Sunday and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Athens-Clarke County jail records.
Wood, 21, was arrested by University of Georgia police and booked into the county jail at 3:42 a.m., according to the jail’s booking report.
He also was charged with not having “lights required,” the report said.
He was released at 9:16 a.m. on total bond of $1,750.
Separately, Georgia offensive lineman Vince Vance — out for the season with a knee injury — was arrested by UGA police Saturday night on a license violation, according to the Clarke County jail’s booking report.
Vance, 21, was booked at 9:29 p.m. and released on a $500 bond at 10:41 p.m., the report stated.
Neither player was immediately available for comment Sunday.
“Coach [Mark] Richt is aware of it and is looking into it,” Georgia athletics spokesman Claude Felton said of the situation Sunday afternoon.
A red-shirt sophomore from Buchanan, Wood is not a starter for the Bulldogs but has played in all seven games this season, including Saturday’s victory over Vanderbilt.
Based on Georgia athletics association policy, he could face a suspension of no less than 10 percent of the season for an alcohol-related violation.
