• Georgia improves to 33-2 in non-conference games and 27-4 in road games under coach Mark Richt. ? Matthew Stafford’s 285 yards passing late in the fourth quarter represented a career high.

• Penalties continue to dog Georgia. Coming in ranked 118th out of 119 teams nationally, the Bulldogs had been flagged 11 times for 100 yards early in the fourth quarter. Two of those penalties were personal fouls on the same field-goal-scoring drive for the Sun Devils.

• Georgia got its first blocked punt of the season early in the second quarter. Zach Renner, a redshirt freshman walk-on from Monroe, Conn., broke through the right side of ASU’s protection and blocked the punt with his right hand.

• Marcus Dowtin caused a fumble that Jeremy Lomax recovered at the ASU 46. Georgia scored five plays later. Lomax later went out with a neck sprain. So did tight end Tripp Chandler. Neither player returned. ? Freshman Tavarres King had a 41-yard reception to set up the Bulldogs’ fifth score of the night, a short field goal from Blair Walsh to make it 27-10.

Starting line shake-up

Georgia coaches followed through big time on their promise to shake up the starting offensive line Saturday night. All five positions were different:

• Junior Vince Vance, who had started the previous three games at left guard, moved to left tackle – his first start at that position for the Bulldogs.

• Sophomore Chris Davis, who had started the previous three games at center, moved to left guard, where he started all of last year.

• Freshman Ben Jones started at center, his first career start.

• Sophomore Clint Boling, who had started the past two games at right tackle, moved to right guard, where he started 10 games last year.

• Redshirt freshman Justin Anderson started at right tackle, his first start.

“Clint and I actually ended up at the same positions we played last season,” Davis said. “So chemistry was really, really good. We got busted up pretty bad last week, so we were out to redeem ourselves.”
