Richt hopes Dogs handle hype better than 'NolesThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 07/28/08
This isn't the first time Mark Richt has had to deal with tons of preseason hype.
The Georgia coach relayed one of the more memorable anecdotes at Monday's Atlanta Sport Council's College Football Preview Luncheon.

When Richt was an assistant coach at Florida State in 1988, the Seminoles were ranked preseason No. 1 for the first time in school history.
"We didn't handle it very good. Our players were studying the Chicago Bears Super Bowl Shuffle. ... They were doing the Seminole rap," he told the crowd. "Well the University of Miami was studying Chicago Bears defense. They sprung that on us the very first game and we lost 31-0. Being preseason No. 1 doesn't mean a whole hill of beans. ... You better not think it's a sense of entitlement at all."
