Athens — The numbers continue to dwindle for the Georgia basketball team.
Chris Barnes, a freshman forward from Riverdale, is considered doubtful for Wednesday night's game against South Carolina because of an undetermined eye condition. That leaves the Bulldogs (11-10, 2-6 SEC) with only seven scholarship players — and eight players overall — with which to compete.

Starting guard Billy Humphrey is serving the second game of a three-game suspension, and freshman forward Jeremy Jacob is taking a medical redshirt after missing the past 15 games with a foot injury. Also, Takais Brown and Mike Mercer were kicked off the team in November, and Rashaad Singleton quit in early January.
Barnes, who wears contacts, dressed for practice Tuesday but did not participate while wearing dark shades over both of his eyes. Team trainer Colby Pohlmann said Barnes' condition developed in the past couple of days and that Barnes saw an eye doctor Tuesday.
Pohlmann was not certain Barnes would sit out against South Carolina but, through team spokesman Tim Hix, indicated the Bulldogs are inclined to "err on the side of caution."
Barnes, a 6-foot-7, 250-pound forward, has played in 20 of Georgia's 21 games. He's averaging 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game.
