Ondrej Pavelec got his first start of the season and his first victory. Today, the young Thrashers goalie needs to get something else — clothes. Pavelec was called up on Saturday while on a road trip with the Chicago Wolves, meaning he doesn’t have much to wear in Atlanta. “I have one suit and two T-shirts,” Pavelec said. “That’s it. So I have to buy something.” There’s no telling how long Pavelec will be with the Thrashers. No. 1 goalie Kari Lehtonen has been under the weather but is expected back soon. “He’ll be playing,” Thrashers general manager Don Waddell said. “I’ve seen him [Sunday]. He’ll be fine.”
• HAPPY 500TH: Thrashers center Todd White scored an empty-net goal and picked up his team-high ninth assist to extend his team-high points total to 12. Not a bad way to celebrate your 500th NHL game. He didn’t know about the landmark until radio play-by-play man Dan Kamal told him before the game. “Seven or eight years ago I didn’t think I’d get five [NHL games],” said White, who played in 7 NHL games in the first of his 11 NHL seasons. “I’m proud of the fact I’ve been able to find a spot in the league and a niche. … There’s a lot of good scorers in the minor leagues that never make it.” White has 114 goals and 178 assists with Chicago, Philadelphia, Ottawa, Minnesota and Atlanta.
• ON THE MEND: Defense-man Zach Bogosian has started rehabilitating his broken left leg. Bogosian walks in water (not on water — he’s not in junior hockey anymore). The buoyancy reduces the stress on his fractured fibula. He attended Sunday’s game wearing a black walking boot with a brace that extends up his lower leg. He’s expected to be out about six weeks. “It’s healing pretty quick,” he said.
• HOT STREAK: Thrashers forward Slava Kozlov extended his streak to three consecutive games with a goal. Kozlov has four points in his past three games and six points in his past five.
