Center Erik Christensen, acquired in the Marian Hossa trade, was examined by team doctors on Wednesday and Waddell said it was determined that he shouldn't skate for a week to 10 days.

Christensen sprained his MCL against Florida and the prognosis for his return before the season ends isn't good.
"I think with the way our season is coming here, he's probably not going to play the rest of the year," Waddell said. "I think what's important is he's seen the opportunity here."
Thrashers to open doors early
The Thrashers will open the doors a half hour earlier than normal for Friday night's game against Washington due to the traffic issues downtown caused in the aftermath of last week's tornado.
